Grinding Machine hazards and it’s Precaution

Grinding Machine
A Grinder machine is used for material removal or cutting, shaping and finishing of work pieces. It consists of various components that influence its performance and safety. There are different types of grinder machines and wheels.
List of Common Hazards
Wheel Break: Grinding Machine wheels break which can cause severe injuries if the wheel shatters.
1 Eye & Face Injuries — While cutting Flying debris and sparks can harm the operator.
2 Fire Hazard β Sparks can be generated when cutting material. These sparks can ignite flammable materials nearby. This can lead to fire.
3 Electric Shock β if the grinding machine is not kept properly, it can cause wire damage or tear down. Faulty wiring or wet conditions can cause shocks.
4 Hand Injuries β It is wheel or Contact with rotating parts can lead to cuts or amputations.
5 Dust Inhalation β it is produces fine dust that can damage the lungs.
6 Excessive Vibration & Noise β It makes noise and vibration Can cause long-term health issues like hearing loss.
Safety Precautions
β Wear PPE β while working with grinding Machine use safety goggles, face shields, gloves, and hearing protection.
β
Inspect the Wheel β Before using the Grinding Machine, check its wheel. Perform a ring test. Additionally, visually check for cracks before use.
β
Use Wheel Guards β Before using make sure guards are place in grinding machine to contain broken pieces.
β
Work in a Safe Area β Before using grinding machine keep flammable materials away and keep proper ventilation.
β
Check Machine Speed β Check the grinding machine’s speed before fitting the wheel. Make sure the grinder does not exceed the wheel’s rated RPM.
β
Use Proper Work Rest β Maintain a 2-3 mm gap between the workpiece and the wheel.
β
