Do’s and Don’t for Welding and Gas cutting are here:

Do’s

  1. Welder should wear all job specified Ppe’s such as Welder Apron/ full body suit, Welding hood attach with safety helmet, Shock Proof hand Gloves, Safety Shoes and helper should wear welding Black Goggles.
  2. Fire Extinguisher should be available at welding/gas cutting Place.
  3. Provided fire watcher if Required.
  4. Remove all Combustible materials from the welding or gas area.
  5. Check all Cable Connections, couplings and fittings on your rig.
  6. Inspect all equipment before use.
  7. secure the area where sparks and slag created by welding or burning activities.
  8. store gas cylinders upright with the valve end up.
  9. separate oxygen and acetylene cylinders in storage by 20 ft or 5 ft, half-hour rated fire wall.
  10. Gas cutting cylinder should be kept vertically
  11. use flash back arrestor on cylinder
  12. check all pressure gauge meter and all hose pipe connection
  13. Hose pipe should not crack, tear or damaged
  14. Take permit before start of work
  15. Welding and gas cutting checklist should use
  16. Once the work is completed clear all debris from working area and check nearby place for any kind of fire residual.

Don’ts

  1. Dont do cutting and welding work where there are oily rags, dust or other combustible matrial nearby.
  2. Dont do welding where can’t you protect from welding arc which can burn the material or fall on someone.
  3. Dont Transport bottles with gauges installed.
  4. Dont use worn or damaged hoses.
  5. Dont use worn or damaged cable.
  6. Dont wear clothes of synthetic fabrics.
  7. Dont Assist anyone in cutting or welding work unless you are wearing eye protection(Black goggle).
  8. Dont leave your area where you were working without notifying others of the burn hazard.
  9. Dont work welding work where there is no grounding.
  10. Dont Weld or cut hot tanks or pipe without proper precautions.
  11. Dont attempt to transfer one gas cylinder to the another cylinder.
  12. Dont use Valve Protection caps to lift cylinders.
  13. Dont Start work without Proper Documentation( hot Work Permit, checklist).
  14. Dont Start the work without Fire Extinguisher and fire Blanket
