Do’s and Don’t for Ladder use are here:
Do’s
- Place a ladder in stable and secure place.
- Ladder should have non-slip grip or secured with wood on lose soil so the ladder do not slip.
- While climbing on Ladder do not take heavy weight with you only light tools should be carry with you.
- Check all parts of ladder before using the ladder there should not be any type of rust of damaged.
- Before using ladder check for green tags which should have valid inspected date
- Climb the ladder facing towards ladder
- While climbing a ladder, use the 3 point contact technique. In this technique, a person should maintain contact with three body parts at all times. Eg. One hand and two feet or two hands and one foot.
- There should be one person to hold the ladder while one person working on the ladder.
- Ladder placing should be 1:4 or at 75 Degree angle.
- Ladder should be extended 1 meter above the platform
Don’ts
- Don’t stand on the top 3 steps (including stepladder or top 3 rungs of an extension ladder).
- Don’t climb of closed stepladder.
- Don’t climb on the back of a stepladder.
- Don’t climb the ladder of physically and mentally not well.
- Don’t stand or sit on a stepladder top or tool tray.
- Don’t tilt in one side or overreach to do side work it can lead to fall from height.
- Don’t exceed the maximum load capacity
- Don’t allow more than one person at same time on stepladder or an extension ladder.
- Don’t Work on Damage ladder especially damaged rungs.
